Plan prices are one provider's published 2026 tiers (Strategic Micro Systems, Managed IT Services Cost Per User: A 2026 Pricing Guide). The in-house figure is the median salary for network and computer systems administrators (BLS OEWS May 2025 via O*NET OnLine, Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX: $103,260) divided by 0.70, because benefits are 30% of total compensation (BLS Employer Costs for Employee Compensation, June 2026). Texas breach notice rule: notify affected residents within 60 days. The Attorney General must also be notified when a breach involves 250 or more residents. The full rule and statute link are in our Texas data breach notification law guide.

Co-managed IT
Co-managed IT means splitting IT work between in-house staff and an outside provider: the internal team keeps ownership and local knowledge, while the provider supplies tools, monitoring, extra help desk hours or projects under a written division of duties.

Managed IT services in Irving: costs and the co-managed option

For 25 desks, the per-desk range 12 means $30,000 to $75,000 annually. What sets Irving apart is who is buying. Many offices here are regional or divisional sites of large companies, where a corporate IT department sets the standards but has nobody in the building. There, co-managed IT tends to fit better than handing over everything; Meriplex's 2026 pricing for it is $45 to $175 per desk monthly 4.

Wage data is published only for the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro as a whole, not for Irving itself. Across that metro, a user support specialist earned a median $60,710 in May 2025 and a systems administrator $103,260 56. Once benefits are added at 30% of private employer compensation 7, a local help desk hire runs about $86,700 a year by our arithmetic, more than the top of the co-managed range for 25 users. How the duties usually divide is shown on our co-managed IT page.

Irving's headquarters economy and what it asks of IT

The City of Irving reports nine Fortune 500 and three Fortune 1000 global headquarters, more than 140 international companies and more than 8,500 companies based in the city 8. Its largest private employers include Citi (6,678), Vistra (4,910), Allstate (3,843), Verizon (3,400), DFW International Airport and Baylor Scott & White (2,220 each), Microsoft (2,075) and CHRISTUS Health (2,000) 9.

Census counts cover the six ZIP codes that make up most of Irving: 75038, 75039, 75060, 75061, 75062 and 75063. Together they held 7,231 establishments in 2023, with 1,728 employing 10 to 49 people and 574 employing 50 to 249 3. ZIP and city lines do not match exactly, so read these as close estimates. IT firms are dense here: 838 of those establishments carry the computer systems design and related services code, 706 of them in 75038, 75039 and 75063 3. Dallas County as a whole has a far lower share: 2,293 such establishments among 71,182 10.

That mix shapes what Irving buyers need from a provider:

  • Support that fits corporate standards. A provider has to work inside the parent company's tools, ticketing and security policies.
  • Healthcare data. Clinics, billing firms and vendors tied to Baylor Scott & White and CHRISTUS handle protected health information; see HIPAA compliance services.
  • Finance and insurance. Citi, Allstate and Exeter Finance push audits and vendor reviews down their supply chains.

Texas breach rules when your customers live in many states

The Texas notice duty covers affected people in every state, not just Texans, which matters for Irving companies with customers or staff across the country. Affected individuals must hear within 60 days of the business determining a breach occurred, and for residents of a state with its own notice law, the business may follow that state's rules instead 11. Where at least 250 Texas residents are involved, the Attorney General's office needs an online report within 30 days 1112, and that office posts reported breaches on a public list 12.

Health information that identifies a person counts as sensitive personal information on its own under the Texas statute 11, which matters for the city's hospital-linked vendors. Vendors that are HIPAA business associates also owe the covered entity notice no later than 60 days after discovery 13.

Headquarters operations are unlikely to be small by SBA standards, so the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, effective July 1, 2024, probably reaches them 14. Smaller Irving firms get a different benefit. Since September 1, 2025, a business with fewer than 250 employees that maintained a cybersecurity program meeting the statute cannot be ordered to pay exemplary damages after a breach 15. Statewide, FBI IC3 counted 97,912 complaints from Texas in 2025, with $1.83 billion in reported losses 16. The full rule is on our Texas breach notification page.

Cybersecurity services for Irving's vendor-heavy offices

Third parties are the weak point Irving offices should plan around. Verizon's 2026 breach report tied 48% of breaches to a third party and named exploited vulnerabilities the top entry point, at 31% 17. A regional office that shares systems with headquarters and dozens of vendors carries both risks at once.

For an Irving office, the baseline is MFA on every account, endpoint detection and response, fast patching of anything facing the internet, a current list of every vendor with access, and backups proven by test restores. Insurers look for many of the same controls, and Marsh says some have become minimum requirements 18. Our small business cybersecurity guide sets priorities, and the managed detection and response page covers 24/7 monitoring.

IT consulting projects and questions for Irving providers

Project work is common in Irving: office moves, acquisitions, Microsoft 365 tenant mergers and network rebuilds. Outside consultants bill $150 to $250 hourly in a 2026 Microsoft 365 migration guide 19. Hourly and fixed-fee models are compared on our IT consulting services page.

Questions for any Irving provider:

  • Have you worked under a parent company's security policy and tools before?
  • Can a technician be on site the same day when a network switch or door-access system fails?
  • If our office touches patient records, will your firm sign a BAA?
  • How are credentials and documentation returned if we end the contract?

Exit clauses and other contract points are in our MSP buyer's checklist. Neighboring pages cover Dallas, Plano and Fort Worth, and our main managed IT services page links the rest.

Common questions

What is the price of IT support in Irving?

Full outsourcing costs $100 to $250 per desk monthly in 2026 guides 12. Keep your own IT person and buy co-managed help instead, and Meriplex's estimate is $45 to $175 per desk 4.

What does a managed service provider in Irving do for a regional office?

An Irving MSP takes over routine IT for a flat monthly price, covering user support, laptops and servers, updates, backups and security alerts. At a branch of a larger company, it typically follows the parent's tools and policies rather than its own.

How many IT services firms are in Irving?

Irving's six main ZIP codes held 838 businesses in 2023 that Census classes as computer systems design firms 3. That category includes software and consulting firms, and ZIP lines do not match city limits exactly, so treat it as an estimate.

Does Texas breach law apply to customers outside Texas?

Yes. The Texas notice duty covers affected individuals in any state, though for residents of a state with its own law the business may follow that state's rules 11. Attorney General reporting applies when 250 or more Texans are affected 1112. Confirm with counsel.

Should an Irving office hire IT staff or outsource?

Outsourcing usually costs less for offices under about 50 people. By our math from BLS figures, a DFW-area systems administrator with benefits runs about $147,500 a year 67. Covering 25 users through a managed plan instead costs $30,000 to $75,000 12.

Do Irving healthcare vendors need special IT support?

Yes, if they handle protected health information. Their IT provider should sign a business associate agreement. HIPAA gives a business associate no more than 60 days from discovery to tell the covered entity about a breach 13.
