The in-house figure is the median salary for network and computer systems administrators (BLS OEWS May 2025 via O*NET OnLine, Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell, GA: $101,000) divided by 0.70, because benefits are 30% of total compensation (BLS Employer Costs for Employee Compensation, June 2026). Get my Atlanta quoteGeorgia breach notice rule: notify affected residents without unreasonable delay, with no fixed number of days. No notice to a state agency is required. The statute covers only information brokers and government agencies, so many businesses fall outside it, but customers in other states bring their own laws. The full rule and statute link are in our Georgia data breach notification law summary.
- Managed IT services
- Managed IT services are outsourced IT operations in which a provider supports staff, monitors and maintains systems, handles security and backups, and plans upgrades under a monthly agreement.
Managed IT services in Atlanta: what businesses pay
Atlanta managed IT pricing generally follows the published range of $100 to $250 per user per month, with security-inclusive plans reaching $300 or more 15. Proposals that look cheap often leave out security tooling or after-hours response, so line up the scope before you compare totals.
Metro Atlanta wages are near national levels. The May 2025 median salary was $101,000 for a network and computer systems administrator and $62,110 for a computer user support specialist 2. With benefits at 30% of private employer compensation 3, the administrator's total cost is about $144,300 a year by our calculation. For a 25-person company, managed IT at published rates costs $30,000 to $75,000 a year.
The managed IT pricing guide breaks down per-user and per-device models and the extras to watch for.
Atlanta's business base and its IT needs
Fulton County had 40,949 business establishments in 2023: 8,195 with 10 to 49 employees and 2,436 with 50 to 249 4. Fulton also had 1,623 computer systems design and related services establishments 4. These figures cover Fulton County only; Cobb, DeKalb and Gwinnett hold many more metro businesses.
In August 2026, trade, transportation and utilities employed about 644,300 people in metro Atlanta, professional and business services 563,900, education and health services 475,900 and financial activities 208,000 (preliminary) 5. The three largest employers in a 2022 HUD profile were Delta Air Lines, Emory University and Emory Healthcare, and The Home Depot 6.
Those sectors shape what smaller Atlanta firms ask for:
- Logistics and distribution. Freight forwarders, warehouses and suppliers run shipping systems and handheld devices and exchange data with large customers. See IT for manufacturers and distributors.
- Health care. Practices and vendors serving Emory and other systems need HIPAA-aligned IT; see HIPAA compliance services.
- Payments and finance. Lenders, tax preparers and other non-bank financial firms fall under the FTC Safeguards Rule, which requires MFA and encryption, plus a written risk assessment for firms holding data on 5,000 or more consumers 12.

Get my Atlanta quoteGeorgia data rules and what they leave out
Georgia's breach notification law has a narrow scope. It covers information brokers (businesses that collect personal information for a fee to give to unrelated third parties) and government agencies, not businesses in general 7. Covered entities must notify residents in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay, and there is no Attorney General notice requirement. Consumer reporting agencies must be told when more than 10,000 residents are notified at once 7.
Georgia also has no comprehensive consumer privacy law as of October 2026 8, and we found no general state cybersecurity statute for private businesses.
That does not mean an Atlanta business has no notice duties. If you hold data on customers in other states, their laws apply to those customers; Florida and Colorado, for example, set 30-day deadlines 7. HIPAA, the FTC Safeguards Rule and client contracts also impose their own rules. A provider should help you map where your data subjects live and keep a breach plan that meets the strictest deadline. Counsel can confirm which deadlines apply to your customer list.
Cybersecurity services in Atlanta
Atlanta businesses often buy cybersecurity services separately from IT support, because the losses justify a dedicated budget. Georgia residents filed 25,936 complaints with the FBI's IC3 in 2025 and reported $535 million in losses, ninth among states for losses 9. Nationwide, business email compromise accounted for about $3.05 billion 9.
What to buy, roughly in order:
- MFA on every account, starting with email, banking and remote access.
- Managed detection and response. Mainstream MDR runs $8 to $25 per endpoint per month 10, about $2,400 to $7,500 a year for 25 devices.
- Email security and payment verification for anyone who can release funds.
- Tested backups that cannot be deleted from the main network.
- A security lead. Published vCISO retainers run about $1,500 to $4,000 a month for organizations under 50 employees 11. See vCISO services.

IT consulting and co-managed IT in Atlanta
Atlanta companies with internal IT staff often add a provider on a co-managed basis instead of outsourcing everything. Co-managed pricing is less standardized; one provider publishes a range of $45 to $175 per user per month, rising as security services are added 13. See co-managed IT for how the duties usually split.
Discrete projects are billed on their own; a 2026 cost guide puts outside IT consultants at $150 to $250 an hour 14. Common Atlanta projects include warehouse network upgrades, Microsoft 365 migrations, building a multi-state breach response plan and preparing for a customer's security audit. See IT consulting.
Choosing an Atlanta managed service provider
Match the provider to the way your business is spread across the metro. A company with a Midtown office and a warehouse near the airport needs on-site coverage at both. Ask:
- Which of our sites will you visit in person, and how is travel billed?
- Is managed detection and response included, or a separate line item?
- Can you build a breach plan that covers customers in other states?
- Who keeps our documentation and admin credentials if we leave?
