Plan prices are one provider's published 2026 tiers (Strategic Micro Systems, Managed IT Services Cost Per User: A 2026 Pricing Guide). The in-house figure is the median salary for network and computer systems administrators (BLS OEWS May 2025 via O*NET OnLine, Corpus Christi, TX: $82,690) divided by 0.70, because benefits are 30% of total compensation (BLS Employer Costs for Employee Compensation, June 2026). Texas breach notice rule: notify affected residents within 60 days. The Attorney General must also be notified when a breach involves 250 or more residents. The full rule and statute link are in our Texas data breach notification law guide.

Operational technology (OT)
OT means the controllers, sensors, gate systems and software that move product and run machinery at terminals and plants. It is distinct from office IT, and the two belong on different networks so malware on a desk PC cannot reach equipment.

Managed IT services in Corpus Christi: pricing and local pay

At published per-user rates 12, managed IT for 25 people in Corpus Christi lands at $30,000 to $75,000 across a full year. Break-fix help billed hourly is listed from $75 up to $250 1 for firms that want no contract.

Local wages change the comparison. Corpus Christi's May 2025 medians were $82,690 for systems administrators and $53,770 for help desk staff 34, roughly $16,400 and $8,100 under the national figures 67. Benefits are three-tenths of what private employers pay out in total compensation 5, so one local help desk hire costs about $76,800 once they are added, on our arithmetic. That is roughly the price of 25 seats at $250 apiece.

The difference is what you get. One help desk employee answers tickets during working hours; a managed contract normally adds monitoring, patching, backups and security tools, with more than one person to call. Companies with 40 or more staff and a capable internal hire often do best with both. Our explainer on how managed IT tiers are priced breaks them down.

Corpus Christi's port, energy and Navy economy

Energy exports, the military and public employers carry the Corpus Christi economy. The Port of Corpus Christi, which calls itself the third largest U.S. port by total waterborne tonnage, moved 203.4 million tons in 2025, including 127.4 million tons of crude oil (down 2.3% from 2024) and 18.6 million tons of liquefied natural gas exports (up 15.4%) 11. Naval Air Station Corpus Christi has more than 8,300 military, civil service and contractor workers across more than 40 tenant commands, and the Army depot on the base is the world's largest helicopter repair depot 12.

In BLS's preliminary August 2026 count, government accounted for 34,100 of the metro's 202,300 nonfarm jobs; education and health services had 33,900, trade, transportation and utilities 33,800, leisure and hospitality 28,800, and mining, logging and construction 26,500 10.

Nueces County counted 8,111 business establishments in 2023; 2,176 had staffs of 10 to 49, and 401 had 50 to 249 8. Only 56 local establishments carry the Census code for computer systems design, and 40 of those employ under five people 9. With so short a local bench, buyers may also weigh providers based elsewhere in Texas, which makes on-site response time the first thing to pin down.

IT for terminals, field crews and plant suppliers

Port and energy work adds equipment networks to ordinary office IT. Terminal operators, marine services firms, pipeline contractors and plant suppliers often run cameras, gate systems, sensors and control software next to email and accounting. Keep those operational systems on their own network segment, limit who can reach them remotely, and log every vendor connection.

Remote access deserves the closest look. Among At-Bay's insured businesses, a remote access tool was the entry point for 80% of ransomware attacks, per its 2025 rankings report 22. Firms on Cisco or Citrix SSL VPNs were nearly 7 times likelier to be hit 22. For a Corpus Christi company with crews, yards and contractors logging in from outside, that points to a short list:

  • MFA on every VPN and remote desktop tool, with unused accounts removed
  • Firewall and VPN patching on a written schedule
  • A separate login for each outside vendor, disabled once its work is done
  • Offline copies of office files and equipment configurations

The remaining controls are listed in cybersecurity for a small Texas business.

Texas breach and privacy rules in Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi businesses have 60 days from determining a breach occurred to notify each affected person 16. If at least 250 Texans are caught up, the Attorney General also gets an electronic report, due no more than 30 days after that determination 1617. Texas offers no exception for breaches judged harmless, though encrypted data is exempt unless whoever took it also had the key 16.

Late notice is expensive. Penalties start at $2,000 and reach $50,000 per violation, with up to $100 more per affected person for each day notice runs late, to a $250,000 cap per breach 18. Encrypting laptops and backups is the cheapest way to keep a lost device from turning into a notice event.

Texas's privacy act (TDPSA, in effect since July 1, 2024) carries no consumer-count trigger; SBA-small businesses fall outside it apart from a consent rule on selling sensitive data 19. SB 2610 has, since September 1, 2025, ruled out exemplary damages for Texas companies under 250 employees whose qualifying security program was in place when the breach hit 20. Only California outpaced Texas in 2025 IC3 complaints: 97,912, carrying $1.83 billion in losses 21. Our page on Texas breach notice duties has more, and a lawyer can confirm how they apply to you.

Choosing a Corpus Christi IT provider

With few local IT firms of any size, the first test for a Corpus Christi provider is who arrives on site and when. Ask:

  • Where are your technicians based, and how soon can one reach our office, yard or terminal?
  • Do you support equipment networks, or only office systems?
  • Have you worked with defense subcontractors under the 7012 clause?
  • Who holds our firewall and VPN admin credentials, and can we see the patch log?

A business that already employs an IT person can share duties with an outside firm through co-managed IT. Contract terms are covered in comparing MSP proposals. For other Texas sites, San Antonio is the nearest large metro on our list, Sugar Land covers energy technology suppliers near Houston, and Austin covers the capital. Every managed IT city page is listed in one directory.

Common questions

How much are managed IT services in Corpus Christi per user?

Between $100 and $250 a month for each covered user, the band in 2026 provider guides 12; a 25-person Corpus Christi office would pay $2,500 to $6,250 monthly. Hourly break-fix work is listed from $75 up to $250 1.

Are IT services in Corpus Christi cheaper to hire in-house?

Local medians are $82,690 for a systems administrator and $53,770 for help desk staff (May 2025) 34. Grossing the help desk wage up for benefits, which BLS puts at 30% of compensation 5, gives roughly $76,800, close to what 25 managed seats cost at the top of published pricing.

What should port and energy firms expect from IT support in Corpus Christi?

Coverage for office PCs plus the equipment networks at terminals, yards and field sites, kept on separate segments. Remote access is the weak point: At-Bay traced 80% of ransomware attacks on its insureds to a remote access tool 22, so MFA and VPN patching come first.

Do Corpus Christi defense suppliers need CMMC certification now?

Third-party certification is on hold: DoD stopped CMMC at Phase 1 on July 13, 2026, with no Phase 2 date 1314. Contract-required self-assessments continue, and the DFARS 7012 clause still calls for NIST SP 800-171 controls and incident reports to DoD within 72 hours 15.

What breach notice clock applies to a Corpus Christi business?

It must notify every affected person within 60 days of determining the breach occurred 16. When at least 250 Texans are involved, a report to the Attorney General is due within 30 days 1617.

How many IT companies are in Corpus Christi?

Nueces County had 56 establishments under the Census computer systems design code in 2023, 40 of them with under five employees 9. Software and consulting shops share that code, so ask any provider where its technicians live.
