Plan prices are one provider's published 2026 tiers (Strategic Micro Systems, Managed IT Services Cost Per User: A 2026 Pricing Guide). The in-house figure is the median salary for network and computer systems administrators (BLS OEWS May 2025 via O*NET OnLine, Fresno, CA: $92,200) divided by 0.70, because benefits are 30% of total compensation (BLS Employer Costs for Employee Compensation, June 2026). California breach notice rule: notify affected residents within 30 days. The Attorney General must also be notified when a breach involves more than 500 residents. The full rule and statute link are in our California data breach notification law summary.

Managed IT services
Managed IT services are ongoing IT support and security run by an outside company for a monthly fee, covering help desk requests, device and network upkeep, backups and threat monitoring.

Managed IT services in Fresno: what businesses pay

The typical Fresno quote for managed IT is $100 to $250 per user per month, the band published 2026 pricing guides give for small and midsize businesses 12. Per-device plans, at roughly $50 to $100 per workstation per month in one 2026 guide 10, can suit packing houses and farm offices where several seasonal workers share a computer.

Fresno pays systems administrators less than the $99,130 national median 11. The local May 2025 median was $92,200 for network and computer systems administrators and $63,370 for computer user support specialists 78. Add benefits at 30% of total compensation 9 and those hires cost about $131,700 and $90,500 a year (our calculation). A 25-user managed plan costs $30,000 to $75,000 a year.

Fresno County also has a thin local IT sector: 125 establishments in computer systems design and related services in 2023, out of 19,144 total establishments 612. That matters for on-site coverage, covered below. Our managed IT pricing guide explains what drives a quote.

IT needs of Fresno agriculture, health care and the businesses around them

Agriculture and health care shape Fresno's IT demand. Fresno County's agricultural output was about $8.09 billion in 2021, with almonds the most economically significant crop, and farm payrolls reached 41,900 jobs in 2022 5. Health systems are the largest private employers: Community Health System (9,000), Adventist Health (3,225), Saint Agnes Medical Center (2,900) and Kaiser Permanente (2,875) 5.

In July 2026 the Fresno metro had 111,500 education and health services jobs, 88,100 government jobs and 82,800 trade, transportation and utilities jobs out of 448,800 13.

What that means for IT:

  • Growers, packers and processors run sites spread across the county. They need reliable connections between field offices and the main office, and systems that can scale for harvest season.
  • Payroll and accounting systems face heavy seasonal use. Business email compromise, where a fake email redirects a payment, cost US victims about $3.05 billion in 2025 14.
  • Medical practices, labs and billing firms around the big health systems need HIPAA safeguards; our HIPAA compliance services guide lists them.
  • Trucking and distribution firms depend on dispatch and tracking systems that cannot be down for long.

Fresno County had 4,706 establishments with 10 to 49 employees and 933 with 50 to 249 in 2023 12. Those are the firms most likely to outsource.

California's breach deadline and privacy law for Fresno companies

California tightened its breach law for 2026. SB 446, effective January 1, 2026, gives a business 30 calendar days from discovering a breach, or being told of one, to notify the California residents affected 34. Once more than 500 Californians receive notices, the Attorney General must get a sample copy within 15 calendar days of those consumer notices 315.

Thirty days is short. In that time you need to know which systems were touched, what data they held and whom to notify. Good logging and a current data inventory, both things a managed provider can maintain, make the deadline workable.

Seasonal hiring makes this concrete. Picture a packing house that keeps payroll records for several hundred seasonal workers on one office server. If ransomware copies that folder and the records count as personal information under the statute, the 30-day clock starts at discovery 34. Farm payrolls reached 41,900 jobs in 2022 5, and each of those workers appears in some employer's payroll records. Deleting old-season records you no longer need shrinks what a breach can expose; ask counsel which records you must keep.

The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, covers a for-profit company in the state once it passes any one of three tests 1617. The tests are:

  • Gross annual revenue above $26,625,000.
  • Buying, selling or sharing the personal information of 100,000 or more consumers or households.
  • Earning 50% or more of revenue from selling or sharing personal information 1617. Most small Fresno firms fall below all three, but a large grower, processor or regional distributor can cross the revenue line. Confirm with counsel.

California led the nation in 2025 with 116,414 complaints to the FBI's IC3 and $3.67 billion in reported losses 14.

Cybersecurity services for Fresno businesses

A Fresno business should start security with MFA on email and payroll, endpoint detection and response, email filtering and backups tested by restoring them. The SBA specifically advises MFA for financial, accounting and payroll accounts 18.

Managed detection and response for small firms costs about $8 to $25 per endpoint per month 19. The 2026 Verizon DBIR found ransomware in 48% of breaches 20, and Sophos found that US organizations with 100 to 5,000 employees spent an average of $2.51 million to recover from an attack 21. Our cybersecurity for small business guide puts the controls in order.

On-site IT support and choosing a Fresno provider

With only 125 IT services establishments in the county 6, confirm before signing that a provider can reach every site you run, including rural ones, and what a trip costs outside the plan. If a provider is based outside the county, ask who would come to your site, where that person is based and how fast they can arrive.

If you have an internal IT person, co-managed support may fit better, at $45 to $175 per user per month in one provider's 2026 pricing 22. See how co-managed IT works and our checklist for choosing an MSP.

Thirty calendar days from discovering or being notified of the breach, under SB 446, effective January 1, 2026 34. If more than 500 Californians are affected, the Attorney General gets a sample notice within 15 days of the consumer letters 3.
